The Pennsylvania State University seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Education at the Commonwealth Campuses. The successful candidate for this academic administrator position will have primary oversight of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at the Penn State campuses. The successful candidate will report primarily to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education of the College of Nursing (CON) and the Associate Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses. The College of Nursing resides primarily at the University Park campus where it offers the General BSN option. Three undergraduate BSN program options (General, Second Degree, and RN to BSN) are available at various Penn State campus locations. Primary administrative responsibilities include overseeing the operations of the undergraduate nursing program at the Penn State campuses for curricular consistency and quality; monitoring course scheduling and faculty assignments to maintain equity related to the established workload policy across campuses; keeping the Associate Dean, and Associate Vice President appraised of issues of significance in the undergraduate program at the campuses; assisting in the development and implementation of effective strategies to recruit high quality students with diverse backgrounds for all program options at the campuses; and collaborate with CON campus coordinators, campus directors of student affairs, college associate deans, and the College of Nursing in accordance with University policies to assure fair, reasonable, prompt and effective resolution of undergraduate student and faculty issues. The position requires an individual with excellent administrative and leadership abilities and an understanding of both the College of Nursing and Penn State’s campuses that offer BSN options This individual will have frequent interaction with CON campus coordinators, faculty and campus administration of the Commonwealth Colleges, which will require traveling to campuses. The Assistant Dean`s office may be located at either University Park or Hershey. The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate and must actively, or be eligible to, be a licensed nurse in Pennsylvania. The University Park campus, where approximately 42,000 students are enrolled, is set in the State College metropolitan area, a university town located in central Pennsylvania. State College offers a vibrant community with outstanding recreational facilities, a low crime rate, and excellent public schools. The campus is within a half-day`s drive to Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City, or Pittsburgh. The University Park Airport is served by three major carriers with flights to Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago and Detroit.
