The Center for Healthy Children at Penn State is currently seeking a Human Research Technologist to advance its mission of research and education in the area of child maltreatment. The Human Research Technologist will work closely with Child Health Study Project Coordinators to assist with children and caregiver protocols. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting recruitment calls to potential participants; mailing of recruitment letters; serving as primary assistant to ensure the child and caregiver visits are conducted as expected; assisting with MRIs of participants ensuring that all necessary paperwork is available, setting up of scan protocol, and transfer of data; transferring brain image of child to t-shirt; assisting with bio sample collection, processing of samples, and arranging pick up of samples; liaison with undergraduate student researchers, conducting student training on protocol measures, scheduling of undergraduates and feedback of students to faculty; creating family visit folders; entering data into databases; conducting nutrition education, art project, and science project; organizing materials, conducting data collection, and monitoring incoming data for accuracy; maintaining confidentiality of the project and the participants; ensuring data is entered and transferred per protocol guidelines; and general project tasks. Job necessitates include: meeting deadlines and working on study tasks that may require flexible work hours including evenings and Saturdays. Training will be provided. Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, produce high quality work, communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, and participate in and support team decisions and team responsibilities. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with social science research and/or experience with children and families preferred. Valid driver’s license preferred. If operating a University vehicle for this position, candidate will be required to complete a motor vehicle records check in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
