Description

The Office of the Corporate Controller is seeking a business/finance professional with a strong background in budget and fiscal management and will be assigned to serve in the Financial Officer role for the Office of the President, the Budget Office and will have responsibility for managing administrative tasks related to General & Academic Executives. This position is responsible for providing strategic planning, financial analysis and reporting for the areas mentioned above. The Financial Officer is responsible for demonstrating financial stewardship and is accountable for sound financial management of the assigned units. The Financial Officer is responsible for expenditure control and performance monitoring for the assigned areas. The Financial Officer interprets and enforces University policy and procedures, reviews budget status in regular meetings with departmental administrators, and recommends budgetary action as needed to ensure attainment of strategic goals. This job will also assist with year-end closing procedures, the annual salary increase process, operational audits, and other projects as assigned, for the areas of responsibility. This job typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a Financial Officer 3. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge in financial and budget management, analysis and forecasting, and strategic planning. Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and database applications for creating and developing customized reporting and analysis is highly desired. The successful candidate will provide expertise and training to staff on the use of these tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proven track record of success as a member of a professional team are highly desired.
