Description

Penn State New Kensington seeks an Enrollment Services Specialist 3 (Admissions Counselor) to recruit students to Penn State, maintain relationships with school counselors, participate in special visitation and recruitment programs for the campus, and regularly communicate with prospective students and applicants. Primary duties include visiting high schools and participating in college fairs, transfer events, and on-campus events to present Penn State information to prospective students and their families. This position will also be responsible for event coordination and oversight for the Office of Admissions and Student Aid, as well as supervision and recruitment efforts for our dual enrollment, summer start, and entrepreneurial mindset programs. The position plays a crucial role in helping campus meet enrollment goals and requires close attention to detail. Other responsibilities include providing intake services including: taking student/parent phone calls and responding to email; advise, counsel and provide information to prospective and current students on Penn State programs and processes, as well as eligibility requirements for admission and/or financial aid; conduct individual appointments and group sessions with students and families; communicate with a wide variety of audiences internal and external to Penn State; serve on campus committees; and attend training and development for the Enrollment Management team. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) is preferred, and previous experience with a CRM (customer relationship management) system, ideally Slate, is preferred. A successful candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills, a willingness to travel locally on behalf of the campus and University, and be able to work in a flexible, team environment. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required. This position also requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
