Description

University Police and Public safety is looking for a well-rounded Administrative Support Assistant to provide assistance to the respective District Commander overseeing the police departments of multiple campuses, in addition to being a resource to Station Commanders across the district. This position is located at the Penn State Altoona campus. This position is the central link connecting the Penn State Police Department with various Local, State and Federal policing agencies, outside vendors, The Pennsylvania State University-wide departments, as well as Penn State personnel to include students, faculty and staff members. Responsibilities will include a variety of administrative functions such as answering phones; greeting and referring visitors; coordinating travel arrangements; maintaining supervisor meeting schedules; maintaining inventory of office equipment and supplies; sorting and distribution of mail; payroll submission, establishing and maintaining office files and providing general office support to the district. This individual will also assist and answer questions from students, faculty, staff, parents, community members, and outside agencies regarding parking and University Police concerns. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. The successful candidate must be detail oriented, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. It is essential that the candidate have the ability to use good judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential information. The successful candidate must have excellent skills utilizing Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
