Description

The School of Global Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (SGLLC) invites applications for an Administrative Support Assistant. The SGLLC is comprised of five academic departments (Department of Asian Studies; Department of Comparative Literature; Department of French and Francophone Studies; Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures; Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese); with additional centers, programs and institutes. This position will provide administrative support to the Center for Humanities and Information and may provide support for additional academic units in SGLLC. The successful candidate is responsible for or assisting with the management and oversight of various conferences and events throughout the year; maintaining and updating various websites; compiling and maintaining databases, files, and records; composing and processing weekly or special announcements and routine correspondence; assist in the hiring and supervising of work study employees; processing wage payroll hours and student enrichment applications; maintaining departmental directories and supply inventory; answering telephone calls, processing incoming/outgoing mail, and greeting visitors. This position will assist with itineraries relating to the faculty search process for SGLLC. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel necessary; familiarity with Workday and basic web editing skills desirable. Seeking applicants with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work well within a teamwork environment and with diverse members of the public, as well as students, staff, and colleagues within the University. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year form date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
