The College of Engineering is seeking a Business Administrator (BA) who will serve as the Chief Administrative Officer for the College of Engineering. This position is responsible for leading business administration functions of the College of Engineering, including facilities and information technology, and partnering with HR and Finance on business administration. The BA reports directly to the Dean of Engineering, is a member of the College of Engineering's senior leadership team and has delegated Budget Executive authority. The BA has direct oversight of facilities and information technology and dotted-line responsibility for human resources and finance in coordination with College of Engineering's Human Resources Strategic Partner and Financial Officer. In addition, the BA is responsible for integrating financial and data modeling and analysis into the decision-making process and providing recommendations to the Dean about investments in the College of Engineering's strategic initiatives; facilities master planning; and education, research and faculty centered programs. The BA directly supports the Dean to lead project management activities and direct research, development and special projects in support of strategic goals, workforce planning, staffing, budgeting and development of financial models for new initiatives. The Business Administrator works closely with college leadership to provide oversight and direction on risk management and regulatory compliance including the development and maintenance of safety and security programs in conjunction with outside entities such as University Police and government agencies. The BA is the College of Engineering's point of contact for internal audits. This position has University-wide impact by supporting the operations of a large college at the highest level and developing solutions on highly complex matters that support The Pennsylvania State University’s mission and strategic plan. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus ten years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Expert knowledge of Penn State University business systems and significant experience in an academic unit is preferred. Familiarity with SAP business systems, the basis of Penn State’s new SIMBA business system ( is highly desired. The candidate must possess exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and written and oral communication skills; have the ability to multitask and coordinate several projects simultaneously; prioritize appropriately and monitor deadlines. In addition to excellent technical skills, the candidate must be able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced office; maintain confidentiality and exercise extremely good judgment and discretion. A high level of proficiency in relevant financial software tools and the Microsoft Office suite is required.
