The EIT Infrastructure Division is looking for an amazing Systems Design Specialist to join the Enterprise Networks and Communication Services (ENCS) Data Center Team. This person will need to understand how to collaborate and engender great customer service. The successful candidate is responsible to the Manager of Data Center Networking for the administration and ensuring proper operation of the Penn State’s Data Center Networks. They will be responsible for designing, diagnosing, and correcting network troubles and performance issues; analyzing network traffic; ensuring proper operation of new network services; and assisting in development and acquisition of network management tools. This position interfaces with equipment and circuit vendors as well as Penn State faculty, staff and students. The successful candidate must demonstrate an ability to identify opportunities for process improvement. Make suggestions for changes and lead implementation teams. On-call coverage and overnight travel is required. Application review will begin July 15, 2019. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Experience with Brocade VDX/Juniper product line is desired. Experience with Switching fabrics, VXLAN, firewall administration and VPN administration preferred. Experience with System administration of virtual machines is preferred. Experience with python scripting and ansible preferred. Industry standard network certifications preferred. Must have a background with enterprise LANs, authentication methods, VLANs, Spanning Tree, and Layer 3 switching. Must have moderate knowledge of data manipulation via structured queries and regular expressions. Experience with network monitoring applications is required. Must be detail oriented, well organized, and a self-starter with the ability to work with diverse teams in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Must have strong communication and customer relation skills. Requires the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
