Description

The Residential Education Specialist 1 (Coordinator) reports to the Associate Director of Student Services & Engagement and is responsible for assisting with the administration of a residence life program that relies on the curricular approach and serves approximately 200 students. The Residential Education Specialist advises residence life affiliated student organizations and living & learning communities; mediates student conflicts; and participates in an educational conduct process. This position also participates in the on-call duty rotation and crisis management and assists in departmental responsibilities including the recruitment, selection, training and supervision of resident assistants. The successful candidate will engage in frequent collaboration, communication, and committee work with multiple campus constituencies including Housing and Food Services, Police and Safety, Personal Counseling, Student Engagement, and the Division of Undergraduate Studies. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the development of a community where diversity and sustainability are valued. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree in Student Affairs/Counseling is strongly desired. Driver's license preferred. If operating a University vehicle for this position, candidate will be required to successfully complete a motor vehicle records check in addition to standard background checks. This is a live-in, annual position typically funded for up to four years. Appointments will be made on an annual basis based on continued satisfactory performance. Start date will be as soon as possible. This is an 83.3% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Months off are mid-May to mid-July each year. Full Penn State benefits included.
