Description

The Complex System Engineering and Monitoring Applications Engineering Department of the Materials and Manufacturing Office at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a Systems Engineering Specialist to assist in field and diagnostic data collection from heavy duty military trucks, provide technical support in the design and fabrication of complex prototype systems that requires basic mechanical/electrical system and electronic component aptitude, and will be responsible for the use and maintenance of laptop computers and specialized testing/data collection equipment. The collected data will be formatted and uploaded to Penn State servers for reporting and analysis. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Required background includes: Proficiency in computer architecture; and experience with low level programming concepts. The successful candidate will be organized, possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal), be technically oriented, and hold a high level of self-motivation and work-ethic. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen. This is a one-year fixed-term renewable appointment.
