Description

Development of an integrated learning and innovation program is underway across several departments and campuses. There are be part-time Program Initiative Leaders positions available depending on the current funding and development priorities. Working as a member of the overall program, the program initiative leader will support development of skills reports, career skills analysis working with companies, assisting with development of learning modules in partnership with companies and faculty. Each program initiative leader will facilitate interaction and collaboration among faculty, students, student groups, research institutes, industry partners, and the scientific research community. This is a part-time opportunity, maximum of twenty hours of work per week. Specific qualifications include enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program; demonstrated understanding of underlying scientific principles and the ability to apply that knowledge base to a broad spectrum of research and applied projects; experience with writing proposals, demonstrable experience in professional networking and interfacing with industry representatives and scientists; effective communication: speaking and writing skills. The successful candidate must be a self-starter with good time management skills. The available positions will also serve as educational training in business development and program management. The successful candidate will “learn by doing” and “lead by doing” the tasks a project manager would perform in a corporate setting. Opportunity for professional development may be available from time to time by way of courses, seminars, and regular mentorship.
