The Office of Information Security is seeking applications for a Cyber Security Systems Engineer. Primary duties for this position include analysis to detect malicious activity (using network and endpoint data), lead in the development of novel new detection techniques, and utilizing automation to reduce mean time to resolution. Duties will also include supporting incident response activities and working on relevant security projects. The successful applicant should have a strong security mindset but does not necessarily need to have significant experience performing network/endpoint analysis work; analysis training will be offered. This job will be filled as a level 2, or level 3, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 2. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with intrusion detection tools and methodologies; experience with Linux, Windows and MacOS; experience with computer incident response; experience performing penetration tests; proficiency using Splunk or other SIEMs for log analysis; proficiency using Phantom or other SOAR products for security orchestration and automation activities. Required Qualifications: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; scripting (e.g. Python) or programming background; willingness to adapt with technology and industry trends; passion for cybersecurity.
