The Department of Human Development and Family Studies is seeking a Financial Assistant responsible for preparing and processing all financial documents for the departmental general, restricted, and research funds, including income and expense, along with auxiliary units associated with the department. Reconcile purchasing card transactions. Place and monitor orders for equipment and supplies. Coordinate travel arrangements and reimbursement process in the Penn State’s Concur, Employee Reimbursement System (ERS). Assure processes have been completed in accordance with Federal, State, and University guidelines. Prepare and submit fleet vehicle reservations. Maintain, control, and monitor budgets, and submit various financial reports to both the department head and project investigators. Maintain endowment and scholarship accounts. Process hiring paperwork for wage payroll and work study employees. Monitor and submit wage payroll and work study salary forms. Reconcile direct-bill expenses daily. Manage reconciliation of financial charges via CRFN. Provide backup support to the budget manager as needed and proxy when necessary. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of University-specific financial and human resource systems is not required; however, general and transferable knowledge relative to other financial mainframe and human capital management systems is expected. Proficiency in the use of database applications for analysis and reporting is preferred. Candidate must be able to work both independently and as a cooperative member of a team, have a record of accuracy and effectiveness in the completion of assignments, and the ability to multi-task. Requires close attention to detail, the ability to work well with time sensitive tasks, and excellent interpersonal skills.
