Description

The Institute for CyberScience (ICS) seeks a Corporate Relations Director for Research to join our dynamic advancement team. In this newly created and exciting position, you will be primarily responsible for facilitating and executing the strategic management of corporate partnerships for ICS on a regional and national level. You will also be a vital partner in the successful implementation of PSU’s overall corporate relations strategy. You will work closely with ICS Leadership to develop and articulate appropriate program concepts and strategies for partnerships. You will be an integral contributor to a fast-paced and growing team of specialists supported by an exciting $60 million Penn State investment in cyberscience research. Our ICS affiliated faculty and researchers form a vibrant intellectual community empowered to use the latest and most effective computational methods to make transformative discoveries for science and society. With ICS, you will have the opportunity to support this groundbreaking work. As our Corporate Relations Director for Research, you will: serve as a value-added liaison between key stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, private sector firms, and educational institutions; acquire the scientific and technical understanding of existing computational and data science research and capabilities and how they may apply to private sector; proactively market the capabilities of our researchers, develop linkages, provide technical expertise, to ultimately establish collaborative projects between stakeholders; develop and execute effective long-term strategies and timelines for critical ICS corporate partnerships; and work with other university units, such as alumni, corporate, and government relations, and career services, to initiate, collaborate, and strengthen alliances that drive progress on key partnerships and projects. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education is preferred. The preferred candidate will have experience in private sector and academia and in developing long-term strategic partnerships; knowledge of research and scientific discovery and its application to the private sector; and, comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of corporate/university relations, including student recruitment, internships, sponsorships, corporate social responsibility, alumni engagement, and sponsored research. Our successful candidate will need to demonstrate: professional level experience in building innovative relationships and facilitating partnerships; the ability to learn, understand, and discuss technical and scientific research topics; sophisticated communication skills to translate scientific concepts to corporate needs; the ability to advocate for and secure resources in support of projects; organizational agility in working with peers and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels in relation to strategic plans and execution; highly responsible, self-motivated, and exceptional attention to detail.
