The Electro-Optics Center (EOC), located in Freeport PA, a Division of ARL, is seeking an experienced Part-Time Augmented Welder. This position will be responsible for the selection, use, and systems design of camera-based display hardware for visualizing welding and other high contrast applications for electro-optic devices. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Problem documentation; process mapping; system design and component selection; physical testing plans and documentation of proposed solutions; and collection of anecdotal results from test participants. Work may be performed in a variety of locations from office to lab environments to shipyards. Typically requires a Master’s Degree or higher in an Engineering or Science discipline plus ten years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Masters in electrical Engineering or Computer Science is desired. Experience in video processing techniques highly desired. Experience requirements include: Welding Automation; computational photography; technology transfer; autonomous robotics; quad-copter surveying; and video algorithms and compression. This position has the ability to be performed remotely, with occasional travel to the EOC and shipyard. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the Applied Research Laboratory will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
