Description

The Relationships and Stress laboratory at The Pennsylvania State University, directed by Dr. Amy Marshall, invites applications for a Human Research Technologist position. The position is to start early July of 2019 (negotiable). The key aim of our research is to understand how stress, trauma exposure, and PTSD symptoms influence context-dependent aggressive behavior. We focus on the perpetration of intimate partner violence and child abuse, with consideration of intervening social-cognitive mechanisms such as threat perception and other forms of social information processing. We have additional lines of research considering gender differences in how stress and trauma impact broader family and interpersonal processes, the impact of family violence on children, and developmental processes that change if and how trauma exposure impacts social behavior. The role of the Human Research Technologist will include recruiting, screening, scheduling, tracking, and maintaining contact with participants (low income parents of children ages 3 - 5 years) in a NIH-funded study; data monitoring and management; processing and coding interview data; scheduling and supervising a team of graduate and undergraduate students; participant payment and project financial management; assisting with Institutional Review Board renewals; and general lab management tasks. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field plus experience with lab management is preferred. Experience with complex data management, flawless attention to detail; strong computer skills, and excellent interpersonal skills with diverse populations are highly desired.
