The Penn State Department of Neurology is seeking an exceptional candidate to fill a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Neurology position beginning on or after June 1, 2019, depending on the availability of the selected applicant. The selected candidate must have earned a doctoral level degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) and training in cognitive psychology or a related discipline with a minimum of five years of post-doctoral experience. The candidate must have a focus on and expertise in developing novel methods for early detection of cognitive changes in both healthy aging and neurodegenerative disorders; understanding underlying disease mechanisms; and linking novel, multimodal brain imaging marker(s) of healthy and neurodegenerative disorders to cognitive metrics. The selected candidate also must have the ability to develop and sustain an independent research program. In addition, it is essential that there is a desire to work in a multidisciplinary translational environment in which she/he will synergize and catalyze collaboration with scientists and physicians in research centers and departments at both the College of Medicine and the main Penn State campus. Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated promise of being able to generate and sustain an extramurally-funded independent research program, and work in a collaborative translational environment. Remuneration will be competitive, and commensurate with the selected candidate’s record and AAMC standards. Generous startup resources will be provided to allow rapid establishment of the candidate’s research program.
