The Pennsylvania State University is in the process of transforming the delivery and management of information technology services across its 23 campuses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is seeking applications and nominations for the position of Associate Vice President, User Success. Organizational Overview: Michael Kubit, the University’s Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, has crafted a vision known as Reimagining IT at Penn State to harness the skills and talents of information technology (IT) staff to deliver excellence across the institution. During the last several months, Penn State IT has migrated to Office 365 as the University’s email and calendaring tool and consolidated firewalls for optimal protection of the University’s data and research. Penn State IT is a service organization, dedicated to serving the needs of students, faculty, and staff members through responsive service and support, enabling infrastructure, effective administrative systems, and strategic innovation. As part of IT’s transformation, Penn State wants to strengthen the user experience. To this end, the institution seeks a highly motivated leader with exceptional strategic, operational, entrepreneurial, and interpersonal skills to join the leadership team of Penn State IT as Associate Vice President, User Success, a newly created position. Reporting to the Vice President for IT and Chief Information Officer, the Associate Vice President for User Success will be a key member of senior leadership team and will help lead a university wide IT transformation. The successful candidate will manage a $15-million operating budget and a team of over 120 individuals. Experience at a research university preferred, but not required. Proven experience working intimately and effectively with a diverse and varied set of stakeholders. Strong experience with simultaneously balancing immediate business priorities/projects while driving the overarching strategic vision of an organization. Extensive experience with service desk and desktop services that has successfully improved services and stemmed cost structures. Business acumen is essential. An undergraduate degree required, and an advanced degree is a decided plus. Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
