Description

The Child Care Center at Hort Woods and/or The Bennett Family Center is seeking teaching candidates committed to the process of creating and providing high quality learning environments for children and families. Position is for a classroom support educator. Position supports infant and toddler classrooms, preschool classrooms. Responsibilities include supporting and maintaining high quality classroom standards in a laboratory setting; coordinating and implementing an innovative curriculum model with a team of colleagues; establishing and maintaining relationships of cooperation and respect with all co-workers, supervisors, and families; maintaining standards in accordance with National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation and PA Keystone STARS 4 quality standards. This position is located at the Penn State University Park campus located in State College, a university town in central Pennsylvania. State College offers a vibrant community with outstanding recreational facilities, a low crime rate, and excellent public schools. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous work experience using the Environmental Rating Scale (ERS), Positive Behavior Support (PBS), and PA Early Learning Standards (ELS) highly desired. Candidate must be flexible, interested in long term professional development, and communicate effectively. Minimum qualifications include a CDA (Child Development Associate certification) plus 6 Early Childhood Education credits, but an Associates degree or higher in a related field is preferred. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of re-funding. Please submit cover letter and resume.
