Description

The Bernard M. Gordon Learning Factory (lf.psu.edu) is seeking a Communications Lead. This is a flexible, part-time position. Responsibilities will include writing articles about Learning Factory activities, website content management (e.g., WordPress), developing promotional materials, and photography. If selected for the position, the candidate will create branding guidelines for the Learning Factory that will be used across all materials to ensure consistent messaging; a strong background in visual design is necessary. In addition to these Communication duties, this individual will spend a smaller portion of time providing back-up assistance to the Learning Factory’s Industry Relations Coordinator. These responsibilities will include making and reconciling purchases for student projects, assisting with events, and providing other assistance to students and faculty as needed. While flexible, this position can be demanding. The candidate needs to be able to interact patiently and effectively with students and faculty from a variety of backgrounds. The Learning Factory is the primary maker space within the College of Engineering. It supports the largest multi-disciplinary, client-sponsored design program in the world with over 250 projects each year. We also host a variety of additional outreach events to foster a community of makers through hands-on learning activities each semester. Some experience with building, crafting, making, or other forms of creative hands-on work would be beneficial. Being a personable, motivated self-starter who can work independently and have great time management skills is essential. Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and graphic design experience. A minimum of two years of experience is required. A sample work product is required as part of the application. Applications without a work sample will not be considered.
