Description

The Salesforce.com Developer is responsible for front-end and back-end architecture and functionality in Salesforce.com for Penn State Extension, which includes translating development requirements to make recommendations and assist senior project staff in architecting the Salesforce ecosystem using a combination of Salesforce configuration, data integration, and custom development approaches for the Salesforce.com platform while escalating business process requirements and development needs to senior project staff using best practices set by the College, Penn State Extension, and the Salesforce system with strategic goals set by leadership units. This position will own or collaborate with senior staff in the design, development, testing, debugging, implementation, modification, documentation, and supporting processes of modules, interfaces, workflow, and applications for the Salesforce platform through native Salesforce functionality and development including but not limited to APEX Classes, APEX Triggers, Visualforce, SOQL, SOSL, Lightning Components, Visual Flows, Process Builder, Workflow Rules, Validation Rules, Approval Processes, JavaScript and other functionality to enhance the platform’s environment. This position will assist in the management of existing integrated platforms and may own or collaborate on new integrations using third-party integration tool Jitterbit to enhance business process management and the Salesforce user and customer experiences between platforms including but not limited to Salesforce Platform, Marketing Cloud, Plone Content Management, Cvent event management, Magento E-commerce, and Edx Online Course management. This position is responsible for collaborating with units, teams, staff, educators, and other stakeholders to develop, manage, evaluate, and optimize customer and business data protocols, management and performance. This position focuses on the development and enhancement of functional areas of the Salesforce platform throughout the College and must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Salesforce Developer Certification preferred but not required. Salesforce Administrator or Platform Builder certification preferred but not required. Must possess basic knowledge of integrations and extract-transform-load (ETL) processes including experience with SOAP and RESTful web services using real-time and batch best practices. This position requires a high level of self-direction, personal accountability, ability to work in a deadline focused environment, and consistently produce deliverables within agreed upon timelines. This position is seated in University Park, PA. Remote option available for candidates with proven track record of delivery, reliability, and collaboration. This is a fixed term appointment for one year with good possibility of re-funding.
