Description

The Computing Services Department of the Information Technology Services Division in the Enterprise Operations Office within The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University is seeking a motivate Part-Time IT Support Specialist to join our team. This position will be approximately 24 hours per week and responsibilities include: Provide end-user computer support service; computer build and configuration to include ARL build/configuration to systems and customize per end-user requirements; infrastructure/cable plant administration, including patch computer/phone network ports to switches as well as other cable infrastructure related administration; hardware/software evaluation and recommendation for both internal ITS and external customers; analyze and record all services and those escalated to another level in a tracking system; ensure proper operation of new hardware or software as needed; process documentation, to include development of a knowledge base for peers, for easier identification and solution of problems; process documentation, such as a development of knowledge base articles and frequently asked questions for the end users; and planning implementation/support as a new request tracking system into place. Typically requires a High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in Windows systems in a domain configuration, end-user applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other common office or engineering applications), disk/file/email encryption, and the use, support, and administration of Macintosh and/or Linux systems is preferred. Possession of an active security clearance is highly desired. Use, support, and administration of networked Windows system, diagnosis and repair of computer systems, and diagnose issues with network configurations from the endpoint are required. Prior experience in a customer service related role and a strong attention to detail are necessary for this position. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation.
