Description

The Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University, is seeking two organized, team-oriented, and detail oriented Part-Time Administrative Support Assistants to support the Materials and Manufacturing Office (MMO). Responsibilities include: Greet visitors; answer telephone calls; provide directions or information to employees or guests; solve routine issues; assist in the preparation of documents, reports, and presentations; proofread documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors; receive, process, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and materials; order office supplies; arrange equipment for maintenance, and process internal work orders for facilities repairs/needs; prepare forms for routine data entry; maintain office calendar, and schedule/cancel appointments and meetings; coordinate travel arrangements, make reservations, and process reimbursements; open, sort, and distribute mail; assist with shipping FedEx packages; and perform project work as needed. Schedule flexible; on as needed basis, up to 24 hours a week. Typically requires a High School Diploma or higher plus one to three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in the following areas is preferred: General computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). To be successful, you must possess: Self-motivation; the ability to exercise discretion; good interpersonal and customer service skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to quality, detail, and accuracy.
