Penn State Berks is accepting applications for a part-time Facilities Coordinator responsible for managing operations of the Makerspace in the Berks LaunchBox located at the Goggleworks Center for the Arts. Responsibilities include: Managing day-to-day operations and acting as facility manager; coordinating activities with appropriate Penn State staff; managing and monitoring facility access, including the certification of users for equipment and tools; developing and administering processes for scheduling use of the space(s); responding to online and phone inquiries related to the Makerspace; installing and maintaining equipment and supplies to meet the health, safety and accessibility standards as defined by Penn State; teaching and mentoring students and community members interested in working at the Makerspace; reviewing and recommending changes based on the needs of the entrepreneurs using the space; and supporting the expansion of the use of the space. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends when the Makerspace is open. The person must have a demonstrated ability to cultivate, build, and maintain strong working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives; have excellent written and verbal communications skills; be comfortable working with, and mentoring students and community members, including children; and preferably have previous experience with workshop equipment and tools. Bachelors degree or equivalent education and experience is required, preferably in a technical discipline. Please upload a cover letter and resume with your application. The Makerspace is equipped with 3D printers, laser cutters, various tools, and more.
