Description

The College of Engineering, Office of Engineering Research Administration (OERA) is seeking a self-motivated professional with strong analytic skills for the position of Proposal and Award Generalist/Data Analyst on the Research Support Team. This position will work primarily on research-related data reporting activities. Retrieve, verify, curate, process and analyze information on research activities from multiple sources. Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. Work with management to prioritize business and information needs. Stay up-to-date on University systems and sponsor systems for running reports, monitoring awards, preparing information and obtaining backup. Provide exceptional customer service to faculty and college/department administrators. Review, analyze, and process proposals, contracts, and grants from various federal, state, local agencies and private corporations and foundations. Work activities are performed in a large volume, fast paced, complex, detailed, and multifaceted environment. Serve as back up to other research team members during peak times and depending on office needs. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for a degree in a data-focused field of study, an understanding of relevant web and metadata standards; an interest in or experience in stewarding or managing research data; and/or experience with SQL, NOSQL and/or SOLR, or similar. A strong working knowledge of government regulations and University policies applicable to sponsored research is important. Demonstrate high-level knowledge of using various databases and systems from the University, including IBIS, iTwo, Data Warehouse, SIMS, FIT etc. Must be proficient in Excel and Word. This position requires flexibility and self-management skills, including the ability to prioritize among a large number of tasks. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills required. Capability to work both independently and as a team member, ability to multi-task and respond professionally in challenging situations is essential.
