Description

The Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences’ Digital Education and Online Learning team has an opening for an Instructional Designer. This position is with the credit design team and will work with faculty to design, maintain and revise online courses in Canvas. In addition, the candidate may contribute to staff development for faculty in course design, technology, pedagogy, and communication. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred skills include a background in teaching or designing engaging educational experiences for learners, and experience designing and revising online courses in accordance with quality assurance standards. Candidates must have considerable online course design experience, strong written communication skills, the ability to review material for grammatical/spelling errors, and strong wordsmithing skills to enhance student comprehension of written material. The candidate must have solid experience with Learning Management Systems, multimedia development processes, and assessments, as well as a working knowledge of HTML. Excellent verbal skills and strong teamwork/interpersonal skills are essential; it is vital that this position builds and maintains positive, effective working relationships with clients in the college and within the work unit. This candidate must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment and apply creative thinking to develop new solutions. The candidate will also be expected to use the team’s project management system, follow standard processes, and contribute to ongoing improvement and documentation of the team Standard Operating Procedures.
