Description

The Cellular Cardiovascular Laboratory, within the College of Health and Human Development’s Department of Kinesiology, seeks a highly qualified individual to perform the following tasks: organize and manage laboratory (includes some supervision of undergraduate and graduate students), conduct data analysis, perform literature searches, some grant budget management. Ability to perform molecular and cellular biological and physiological experiments to include western blotting, real time PCR, cell culture, buffer and sample preparation, isolated heart experiments and coronary artery ligation surgery in rodents (a minimum of three skills required). Prepare buffers, solutions, order supplies and equipment. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree in biology, physiology or a related discipline is strongly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential. Other competencies critical to success in this position: excellent time management skills, attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a diverse team. Rodent surgical experience is required. This is a fixed-term position, funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.
