Penn State’s Sustainability Institute is hiring an intern who will work May 2019-May 2020 at the Sustainability Experience Center; a nine-acre site dedicated to engaging the Penn State community around the topics of food, water, and energy. Currently, the Sustainability Experience Center is home to several projects: the Black Walnut Provenance Study, the Community Garden, the Eco-Machine(tm), a Materials Reclamation Studio, the MorningStar Solar Home, a Sweet Gum Tree Grove, and two wind turbines. Candidates will have a passion for sustainability, be organized and dependable, and comfortable speaking to groups of various kinds. Some nights and weekends may be required. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordinating and leading group tours of the site; maintaining and reporting tour metrics (ie: size, type, age-range, date, etc.); developing curriculum and tours; assisting with the creation of guidebooks and communications; collaborating with SEC projects happening on site; attending weekly meetings with the Sustainability Experience Center Coordinator and other Sustainability Institute events as needed and assisting the Sustainability Experience Coordinator as needed This paid internship will be for 25 hours per week in the summer and 10 to 15 hours a week during the school year.
