Description

The Penn State Breazeale Reactor (PSBR), Radiation Science and Engineering Center (RSEC) invite applications for the position of Associate Director for Irradiation Services and Research (ADISER). The ADISER will write research proposals and help coordinate experimental and research activities at the RSEC. The successful applicant will ensure that these activities are performed safely and in accordance with the reactor operating license and technical specifications, as issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The ADISER interacts with the faculty of the Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering and other programs and departments throughout the University and among the other universities in the U.S and worldwide. The ADISER will also solicit joint projects with representatives of public agencies, private industrial establishments and government contractors under the direction of the Director of the RSEC. The successful candidate will have technical expertise in the nuclear engineering field, particularly in the area of research reactor utilization and experimental design. The RSEC is a research center in the College of Engineering of the Pennsylvania State University that provides education, research and irradiation services, technical advice to the Pennsylvania State University, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the USA and worldwide. The RSEC recently installed new core moderator assembly and new beam ports. RSEC has received approximately $14 million funds from Penn State and federal agencies for infrastructure improvements since 2008. The position requires a Ph.D. degree in nuclear engineering and/or related field plus at least ten years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. When the individual’s credentials and interest warrant, consideration will be given to a research academic title within the RSEC and an affiliate appointment with the Ken and Mary Alice Lindquist Department of Nuclear Engineering.
