Description

The Department of History, Department of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, and the Jewish Studies Program invite applications for an Administrative Support Assistant (ASA) to assist in managing a broad range of administrative activities. Duties will include the following: Manage and maintain student academic records for History, Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, and the Jewish Studies Program. Provide staff and program support to Graduate Officer. Respond to inquiries regarding academic programs and advise students on departmental and University policies. Resolve problems. Process student program functions, including registration, drop/add, audits, and scheduling of language, doctoral candidacy and comprehensive exams, and thesis and dissertation defenses. Prepare incoming and renewal assistantships and fellowship appointments using Workday. Collect and analyze student data for departmental and college reports, update graduate bulletins, and monitor students’ credit load registration and academic and grant application deadlines. Compile and monitor credential files for applicants for admission to the graduate program. Coordinate and plan all aspects of the graduate student recruitment visits to campus. Assist with the recruitment and retention of graduate students and serve as a liaison to the Graduate School. Handle the eSteward processes for undergraduate and graduate awarding, prepare spending documents, process and compile mailings to donors and maintain the donor database. Serve as back-up for Undergraduate Support Assistant. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Workday and knowledge of Access, Excel, and Word are preferred. Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills, along with the ability to work independently and in a team environment are required.
