Description

The Center for Healthy Children at Penn State is currently seeking a Human Research Technologist to advance its mission of research and education in the area of child maltreatment. The Human Research Technologist will work closely with Child Health Study Project Coordinators to assist with children and caregiver protocols. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conducting recruitment calls to potential participants; contacting schools/community organizations; managing email and 800 phone number for participants; assisting with study retention; searching and updating contact information; mailing of recruitment letters; serving as secondary researcher to ensure the child and caregiver visits are conducted as expected; assisting with the scheduling of undergraduates and feedback of students to faculty; creating family visit folders; entering data into databases; organizing materials, conducting data collection, and monitoring incoming data for accuracy; maintaining confidentiality of the project and the participants; ensuring data is entered and transferred per protocol guidelines; and general project tasks. Job necessitates: meeting deadlines and working on study tasks that may require flexible work hours including evenings and Saturdays. Training will be provided. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with social science research and/or experience with children and families preferred. Qualified candidates will be detail oriented, produce high quality work, communicate clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, and participate in and support team decisions and team responsibilities. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of re-funding.
