Description

As the locus for one of the University’s primary strategic goals, the Office of Global Programs is an area of growth and opportunity for those seeking a career in the diverse field of international education. This position will report to the Student Engagement and Intercultural Learning Manager as a primary member of this unit. The successful candidate will plan, develop, and conduct three international student orientation programs each year in the fall, spring, and summer academic semesters, with up to 1900 participants per year; develop and execute cornerstone programs such as the Global Engagement and Leadership Experience; work closely with colleagues across the commonwealth; and devise new and inclusive ways to support and advocate for international and globally-minded students. The position requires routine communication with community members, students, faculty, staff, and departments around Penn State and will create a support network to maximize international students’ opportunities. The student engagement coordinator will be in charge of hiring and training up to seventy part-time student staff. Additionally, this position will curate and lead communication efforts in conjunction with the Communication/Marketing office. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in an education or social science related discipline or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous general university orientation experience is preferred; specifically working with international students. A candidate with education abroad, working and/or living abroad is also preferred and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures is a plus. Some administrative or project management experience is highly desirable. Complete applications will contain a cover letter and resume.
