The Office of Multicultural Programs seeks to hire a Graduate Assistant responsible for developing, coordinating and overseeing a variety of programs; assisting with the development of new initiatives; providing administrative support; working with reentry programs in the local prisons; and helping to implement and develop curricula for those experiencing incarceration. Duties and responsibilities include: Provide programmatic and administrative support for Restorative Justice Initiative (RJI) projects and develop and maintain effective working relationships with campus and university-wide offices, faculty, and community partners; Assist the graduate student organization--Students’ Restorative Justice Initiative (sRJI)--with programming goals and execution, and work with the leadership to further the organization’s goals; Help in the planning, implementation and evaluation of RJI programs/activities geared towards educational, cultural, social, or career development in and outside of correctional facilities; Support in the development of curriculum materials, observe instructors teaching RJI sponsored courses in the correctional facilities, and provide instructional support to faculty leading professional development for instructors; Assist in preparing grant proposals, post-program evaluations, and data collection for programs supported/ran/supervised by the Restorative Justice Initiative; and Manage and maintain contacts with community partners, act as a liaison between the correctional facilities, and assist with administrative responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications: Education and Training: Bachelor`s degree in related field. Work Related Experience: Experience working/teaching in community/correctional settings; some programmatic and administrative experience; and a demonstrated success supervising, teaching, or working with diverse communities. Competencies: Strong commitment to fostering diversity and equal opportunity; strong written and oral communication skills; and ability to work both independently and cooperatively with various levels of staff, administrators, students, and external groups. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with social justice education; familiarity with corrections; experience developing curriculum materials; project management and supervisory skills; marketing and promotion; and an ability to contribute to ongoing improvements in creative and innovative ways. Ideal candidate is a fast learner, willing and committed to support the objectives and services of the College of Education’s Multicultural Programs Office. College of Education graduate students highly preferred.
