Description

The Penn State College of Engineering is committed to producing graduates who are globally engaged and poised to impact the world. To that end, we support and encourage students in the pursuit of international experiences. We are seeking an assistant who will become well-acquainted with a wide range of engineering-focused study abroad opportunities and communicate them to students through one-on-one conversations. Responsibilities in this role also include gathering and disseminating information to students and faculty via web pages, information sessions, promotional materials, and social media. Often this position is the first point of contact for students interested in study abroad and he or she can have a significant impact on whether or not a student chooses to pursue a global experience. The successful candidate will also provide support to the Office of Global Engineering Engagement, help organize meetings and events, and work on a variety of projects as needed. This position may serve as a point of contact with the Office of Global Programs, the engineering advising center, and outside agencies. Additionally, the International Experiences Assistant will interact with a team of undergraduate student Global Engineering Fellows who serve the college by meeting with interested students and giving presentations on international engineering opportunities. This is a temporary, wage position, working Monday-Friday. The workload is expected to be approximately 20 hours per week during the summer semester. For the fall semester, the workload will increase to 40 hours per week. This position may be extended on a part-time basis in the spring semester, depending on organizational needs.
