Description

Police and Public Safety is looking for a student majoring in Public Relations to serve as a Public Relations Intern. Duties include: Writing press releases for Penn State News; assisting with creation of other publications and PR materials as necessary, such as brochures or social media posts; assisting with editing and proofreading materials; assisting with production of other marketing/PR materials as skill set allows, and working with faculty, staff and students to help tell the story of the University Police and Public Safety’s successes. Background check (which will be conducted for the selected candidate at no charge). Requirements include: Strong writing skills, completion of COMM 260 News Writing and Reporting; familiarity with AP Stylebook, inverted pyramid; critical thinking, ability and willingness to ask questions; detail oriented, able to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects at once; ability to work independently and accept critical feedback in order to improve; solid knowledge of Microsoft Word; familiarity with Photoshop desired; familiarity with Canvas, Mail Chimp and social media desired. Will work 5 to 10 hours per week; mostly daytime hours with occasional evening hours for special events.
