The Pennsylvania State University Libraries is accepting applications for two Part-Time Digital Processing Specialists to join the Preservation, Conservation, and Digitization department. Under the direction of the Digital Production Supervisor, these individuals will support the University Libraries by performing digital imaging, printing, and file management services. Successful candidates for this position will be part of a digital imaging team, which works on a variety of short and long term projects. These projects serve a range of physical media, including rare fragile items, negatives, and oversized material. This position requires the use of a variety of imaging equipment including DSLR cameras, medium format cameras, flatbed scanners, document scanners, and large format scanners. Additionally, this position is responsible for performing quality control of images produced by colleagues and approved vendors. Ability to handle rare or fragile materials, process files by creating master tiffs and derivative images, and transfer files to library servers for access or preservation. Experience with Silverfast, Capture One, Adobe, and Microsoft applications is essential. Specialized knowledge of Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initative(FADGI) guidelines, photographic skills, or bulk image processing preferred. Additionally, previous experience in a library, archives, or museum is also preferred. This is a part-time position hiring at $12.50 per hour. The schedule is approximately 24 hours a week during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
