The Penn State World Campus Brand Marketing Team is looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for social media to serve as an intern who will assist with our social media advertising campaigns. This team member will report directly to the Associate Director for Brand Experience and will assist this manager and our Social Media Manager in overseeing the development of strategy for and the implementation of paid advertising campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram. This is a paid internship position with an hourly rate of $11/hour and can also be used for academic credit if approved by your academic department. Our team hopes to immerse the right candidate into as much of our daily operations and social media advertising strategy as possible to help to prepare them for a career in social media marketing. This position would require 15-20 hours per week beginning in August and running through the fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters. Responsibilities include assisting with the development of social media campaign strategy, targeting, and setup on the various social media platforms; meeting with internal marketing partners to understand their specific audiences and campaign goals; working with internal marketing partners to gather and develop the appropriate creative assets for use in the ads; pulling and analyze campaign analytics from each platform and other reporting tools to provide data-driven recommendations for campaign optimizations; assisting with the development of standard reports for internal partners and/or marketing leadership; attending regular meetings with the larger Brand Marketing Team and internal marketing partners to gain further understanding on how social media advertising fits within our larger marketing initiatives; and assisting with new social media platform technology research and evaluation. Requirements include a passion for social media marketing and advertising, previous experience or coursework in marketing and/or social media, general understanding of social media for businesses and brands, experience with the process of developing marketing plans (preferred), familiarity with campaign and website analytics (preferred), and organized and detail-oriented. Desired Majors include: Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations, Bachelor of Science in Marketing, Bachelor of Science in Business, with an emphasis in Marketing and/or Management, and Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies.
