The Penn State World Campus Brand Experience Team is looking for a detail-oriented, strategic thinker to serve as an intern who will assist with our brand marketing campaigns, events, and analytics. This team member will report directly to the Associate Director for Brand Experience, and will assist this manager in overseeing the implementation of campaigns, events, social media, analyzing campaign and event analytics, and identifying areas for optimization and further integration. This is a paid internship opportunity with an hourly rate of $11/hour, and it can also be used for credit with the proper approvals from your academic department. Our team is committed to making this an in-depth learning experience and hopes to immerse the right candidate into as much of our daily operations and strategy as possible to help to prepare them for a career in marketing management and/or marketing analytics. This position would require 15-20 hours per week beginning in August and running through the fall 2019 and spring 2020 semesters. Responsibilities include: developing and maintaining database and deployment calendar of the team’s advertising media schedule, social media initiatives, and virtual and in-person events; pulling and analyzing campaign and event analytics from Google Analytics and other platform reporting tools to provide data-driven recommendations for campaign and/or event strategy optimizations; meeting regularly with team members responsible for digital media, traditional media, geo-targeted media, social media, virtual events, tradeshows, and in-person events to gain insights on their strategies and look for opportunities for further integration; attending regular meetings with the larger Brand Marketing Team, internal marketing partners, and media agency contacts; assisting with new campaign/event vendor research and evaluation; assisting with the development of standard reports for marketing leadership. Requirements include: previous experience or coursework in marketing and management; a general understanding of digital and traditional advertising media and campaigns, social media for businesses and brands, and marketing event planning and execution; experience with the process of developing marketing plans, preferred; familiarity with campaign and website analytics (preferred); organized and detail-oriented; strong oral and written communication skills; and a strong work ethic. Desired majors include: Bachelor of Arts in Advertising and Public Relations, Bachelor of Science in Marketing, or Bachelor of Science in Business, with an emphasis in Marketing and/or Management.
