The Penn State Extension Office of Butler County is looking for a Summer Intern interested in 4-H Youth Development. Unlike internships at other organizations, our Extension Intern will gain meaningful, real-world experience in the key areas such as community engagement, youth programming, website maintenance, and marketing. During the weeks that the Intern spends working with the Butler County staff, they will learn how Extension is viewed in the community and the valuable contribution the programs make to youth, families, communities, and industry. The Intern will need to be an independent worker who is good at time management and creative in working with youth. By working with the 4-H Educators, the Intern will become familiar with the goals of 4-H; develop civic engagement, leadership, responsibility and life skills of youth through an experiential learning program using a positive youth development approach. The Intern will be on the ground learning new innovative approaches to STEM education in agricultural sciences. The 4-H Intern will be working as part of the state 4-H STEM and 4-H Camp teams. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Mileage for travel will be reimbursed. This summer work opportunity will be for the period late-May through mid-August (start and end dates are negotiable). Pay is $10.00/hour for 30 hours/week. This work can be used either as an internship or independent study. For more information contact: Penny Ward at email@example.com.
