Description

Dr. Patrick McDaniel is seeking a Research Project Manager who, in collaboration with senior research staff, will assist in establishing and running a new multi-institution National Science Foundation funded Center on the Security of Machine Learning. This individual will oversee the 6-year NSF Frontier End-to-end Trustworthiness of Machine-Learning Systems grant. This project will establish the Center for Trustworthy Machine Learning (CTML), a large-scale, multi- institution, multi-disciplinary effort whose goal is to develop a rigorous understanding of the vulnerabilities inherent to machine learning, and to develop the tools, metrics, and methods to mitigate them. The project manager will contribute to the strategic direction of the Center, perform day-to-day management of the center (including organizing and overseeing research), participate in educational events, communicate with many individuals and organizations, and organizes events. They will be critical in the project management, financial planning, problem-resolution, research and reporting. This includes development of project infrastructure and workflow processes, budget management, maintenance of collaborative relationships across multiple levels of the organization and all external partners and ensuring project compliance. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
