Description

The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is seeking to hire an energetic Research Administrator. The successful candidate will be an integral part of OSP’s mission to provide high quality service and must be dedicated to continued learning and professional growth. This position will review and process proposals associated with various Federal and State agencies, industries, foundations and other public and private funding sources. This activity involves working closely with faculty to create proposal budgets and non-technical components of applications to ensure compliance with guidelines and University policies. This position will also review, interpret, and provide guidance to faculty and staff based on sponsor solicitations, laws and regulations, and University policies. Other responsibilities include reviewing and processing standard federal grants for adherence to government and University policy, as well as reviewing and processing gifts from various agencies/organizations. The successful candidate will also serve as back-up to the Subcontractor Coordinator by assisting with processing various Penn State Sub-agreement documents. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Successful graduation of the ACES program preferred or must be completed within the first several years of employment. Experience with managing email, electronic research administration programs such as Excel, Word, Adobe, Strategic Information Management System (SIMS) and sponsor specific submission systems is preferred. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high attention to detail.
