Description

We are seeking applications for a summer research position from Mechanical Engineering undergraduate or graduate students during summer 2019 (May-August). The position will require approximately 30 hours per week with flexible working hours. The pay rate will be $15.00 an hour. The work will take place in Penn State’s Steady Thermal Aero Research Turbine (START) Lab that focuses on gas turbine engine research. The lab is under the direction of Dr. Karen Thole and is located in the Cato Park Engineering Building, which is approximately four miles off campus with a free shuttle service available. The student will assist with ongoing laboratory research and test rig assembly activities. Applicants should be familiar with general laboratory tools such as a hand drill, drill press, and band saw. Undergraduate students with an interest in graduate school studies focusing on turbomachinery, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer will be considered favorably. US citizenship or permanent resident status is required.
