The College of Arts and Architecture is seeking a Director to lead our growing Office of Digital Learning. The Office of Digital Learning (ODL) is responsible for the identification and development of new online curricula, collaborating with faculty on the design of online and hybrid courses, and supporting College-wide efforts to integrate digital tools into teaching. The successful candidate will be a dynamic educational technology professional with experience leading cross-functional teams and a proven track record of working collaboratively with academic units to advance their teaching mission. The Director will identify and implement innovative solutions to highly complex strategic and operational issues. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Digital Learning, the successful candidate will oversee day to day operations of ODL, including course design and development, programming, media, budget management, and faculty support. The Director will maintain timelines and establish expectations pertaining to the design and development of programs and courses. The successful candidate will work closely with the College administration to provide relevant enrollment data, and to participate in strategic decision-making related to program opportunities. The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial mindset and experience growing and stewarding online programs. Additional responsibilities include providing guidance for enhancing teaching and learning within the College, researching and integrating emerging digital teaching and learning approaches, and overseeing staff professional development. A willingness to lead and work in a team-based environment as well as possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills is required. The Director is expected to represent the College of Arts and Architecture on relevant University-wide committees, as well as act as a proxy for committee assignments on behalf of the Assistant Dean as needed. Participation in the vibrant Penn State learning design community is expected. A working knowledge of the Canvas learning management system is required. The Director position requires a Master`s degree or higher, plus 6 years of related experience. A terminal degree is preferred, though candidates with a relevant combination of education and experience are encouraged to apply. Recent experience with University teaching and budget management experience preferred. This job will be filled as a one-year 48-week fixed-term faculty position, with excellent possibility of renewal. Application review will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
