The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time post-doctoral scholar for a randomized controlled trial of two exercise programs. The role will entail collecting qualitative and quantitative data from subjects, as well as writing research manuscripts, and interfacing with community organizations (e.g., parks departments, townships) to organize the space that will be required for the intervention to be completed. Training activities will include learning grant writing skills, writing scientific manuscripts and submitting an NIH-funded F32 grant. Other duties include: Conduct phone screenings with potential subjects. Conduct ongoing quality control procedures with database to assure that all variables are completed and accurate. Complete Institutional Review Board training program. Travel to/from sites in Penn State Hershey catchment area, including as far west as Mechanicsburg and as far east as Lebanon and Lancaster. A flexible schedule (some evenings and possibly some weekends) is required. Candidate must be detail-oriented and possess excellent interpersonal and strong communications skills. This appointment will be for a 1 year period from the date of hire. Experience/Education Guideline is that the ideal candidate has a doctoral degree in any of the following fields: Exercise physiology, Kinesiology, Sports Psychology or Psychology, with a research focus.
