Description

The successful applicant will perform lab and greenhouse research on soil microbiomes and will also conduct associated reporting and data management. Research work will include soil sterilization and treatment with prescribed nutrient additives, mesocosm establishment, soil sampling, DNA extraction, PCR, bacterial cultivation, and in-lab bacterial growth. The successful applicant is required to adhere to strict work and reporting timelines and is expected to communicate frequently with the direct advisor. The successful applicant will possess research skills related to microbiology, molecular biology, and soil science, and will have strong organizational abilities. Writing skills should be sufficient to clearly communicate project progression and results in the form of reports to the advisor and/or project collaborators. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
