Under the direction of the off-site shelving supervisor, this position creates and updates inventory holdings information in the online catalog for materials transferred to the off-site Annex locations. Duties include: cross training to assist coworkers as needed in request fulfillment by retrieving material from multiple annex facilities maintaining statistics, conducting inventory and space management assignments; training other staff, transferring collections between locations, and collection maintenance duties such as shelving for all material types on a daily basis. This position calls for attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy; adhering to high standards in modifying catalog record has a significant impact on users of the University Libraries electronic catalog. Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience with request fulfillment, warehousing, database administration, library automation systems/on-line library systems and/or Interlibrary Loan, and library circulation is preferred. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred. Experience using library database searching and retrieval tools and systems is highly desired. Competencies critical to success in this job include: excellent oral and written communication skills; a demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team environment; strong organizational skills; the ability to work with minimal supervision; effective time management; demonstrated initiative; and producing a sufficient volume of work to contribute to the unit’s high standard of customer service. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. University employees must be 21 years of age or older to operate University fleet vehicles. Requires maintaining a valid United States (Issued by a “state”), or Canadian Province Operator’s license. Note: An overseas or international driver’s license does not meet eligibility requirements. Undergraduate students are not authorized to reserve, sign for, or operate Fleet vehicles. Graduate students with assistantships and serving as part-time teaching assistants are considered employees for purposes of Fleet vehicle rental. Please note that this exception to policy does not waive the basic Fleet eligibility requirement.
