Penn State's College of Nursing is seeking a Public Relations Specialist to research, write/produce, edit, and distribute articles and other promotional materials that highlight student, faculty, and center/units’ accomplishments; strengthen student and alumni engagement; and express our strategic initiatives with a storytelling approach. As part of the College’s newly formed Marketing and Creative Services Department, this person will coordinate the preparation and dissemination of the college's communications efforts in collaboration with the rest of the marketing and creative services team. The role will advise units within the College on University policy in relation to editorial and visual style and assist with the organization and promotion of special events and projects. This role requires frequent collaboration with Marketing team members, CON leadership, internal/external stakeholders and internal marketing resources on creative, web development, writing and editorial, research, and news/public relations deliverables. This position is also responsible for creating and executing creative marketing campaigns in collaboration with the other members of the Marketing team to raise awareness and increase engagement. This job will be filled as a level 1 or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher , or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Experience with healthcare related environments, community health needs assessment, healthcare related research, graphic design, social media, content marketing, analytics, market research, and omni-channel marketing is highly desirable. Occasional night and weekend work will be required to support the College’s events throughout the year. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
