Description

Penn State is seeking a self-directed, energetic, and experienced IT professional to join the College of Nursing’s Information Technology Department as an Information Technology Support Specialist. This position requires a high focus on customer service to help support the faculty and staff in the College. This position will provide tier 1 support in a mixed operating system environment identifying, prioritizing, and resolving hardware, software, and printing problems. In addition, they will assist with the creation of documentation on computer inventory, knowledge base solutions, and computer issues/concerns to assist in facilitating future decisions. The position must be able to effectively work with teams within the College’s IT department, Enterprise Information Technology, Faculty, Staff, external stakeholders, etc. Typically requires a High School diploma or higher, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with TCP/IP networks, Active Directory, BigFix, JAMF, Qualtrics, and statistical packages such as SAS and SPSS are a plus. Experience supporting Health IT related issues in either a patient care environment or Simulation environment is also a plus. Previous IT experience supporting Microsoft Windows 7/8/10, Mac OS, and Microsoft Office is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills to respond to user questions and requests, provide user requested assistance in the use of computer hardware and software, a strong work ethic an intrinsic desire to learn, and a foundation of continuous improvement are necessary. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
