The Pennsylvania State University, Office of Information Security is seeking a highly detail-oriented, highly motivated, and independent student to perform a review of a broad range of documents including grant proposals and awards, government research contracts, and confidentiality agreements. This position will be focused on reviewing a large number of documents for specific terms as well as reviewing research project documentation to inventory specific project sponsors. Critical thinking, exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. This position also requires the successful candidate to maintain a level of discretion and confidentiality with sensitive matters, and the ability to work with a variety of cultures and backgrounds. The successful candidate must be able to pass a background check. Possession of the following qualifications are preferred: a basic understanding of information security concepts, standards, and best practices; a basic understanding of or familiarity with federal, state, and local legislation such as FERPA, GLBA, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA; experience reading and interpreting regulations, contracts, and organizational policies and procedures; experience working within a research environment.
