Description

The Pennsylvania State University is committed to advancing Sustainable Development by fostering diversity, inclusive and equitable access to our planet’s social, environmental and economic resources. The Office of Student Activities and Sustainability Institute are seeking diverse and culturally competent candidates committed to nurturing exploration, community engagement and the development of students using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/) as a framework. This joint position, reporting to the Assistant Director for Student Organizations (Office of Student Activities) and the Associate Director for Student Engagement (Sustainability Institute) leads the development, implementation, and assessment of student engagement efforts to enhance sustainability initiatives on campus. Specifically, this position will support student leadership programs such as EcoReps, advance partnerships with student organizations (i.e., EcoAction, THON, Homecoming, Movin' On), support students in the coordination of service/leadership programs (i.e., Tailgate Ambassadors, Friday Night Lights Out), and advise the Council of Sustainable Leaders. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong facilitation, program planning, communication, advising skills and a foundational understanding of the social, economic and environmental components of sustainability. This position may require that you operate a motor vehicle as part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Willingness and ability to work flexible hours to support night and weekend activities are required. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with good possibility of re-funding.
